About Me

Me-MediumHi – Phil here, and thanks for taking a look at Digital Piano Review site.

As a child it never occurred to me that I should play the piano. But my Aunt was a piano teacher and I guess it was expected of me to learn. I was about five when I started and would go to my Aunt’s once a week for a lesson.

My parents had bought and upright piano for me to practice on. I didn’t find learning too bad, but I was only learning simple pieces to play when I started. As I got older, it became more difficult. I had to learn a lot of the theory and how to read music. Also the pieces I had to learn were getting harder. It became a bit of a struggle for me and I guess I felt it was too much like work. I was reluctant to practice after working at school during the day. I just wanted to be out playing with my friends.

I continued learning until I was about 14 when I finally gave up.

As I got older I began to realize how lucky I was to have played the piano. A few years ago I was made redundant and due to my age decided to take early retirement. Now I had a great opportunity. I have a life long love of the piano and now that I had more time, I decided I should go back to it, but in a much more casual and relaxed way than when I was a child.

My old digital piano – a Roland EP90

I managed to get together enough money to buy a digital piano, and together with a really good course called Piano For All, I am learning all over again and it is a lot of fun. My piano is a Roland EP90. It is quite old now but still plays nicely.

I used to work in information technology, so in addition to re-learning the piano, I have been teaching myself how to develop websites. I combined my interest in building websites with my interest in digital pianos and decided to build this site. As well as helping me investigate digital pianos, as I feel I am ready for an upgrade, I can share all this information with others who are looking for a digital piano.

I hope that you find the information in this site helpful and wish you all the best in your piano playing.
